Round Robin Challenge: Transportation

The challenge this week is Transportation. What a great theme! I had quite a few pictures to choose from and could not make up my mind, so I thought I'd share a few different modes of transportation!

Ship(s)
ships
A cruise ship is such a fun form of transportation! I took this shot from the cruise ship I was on, in Ft. Lauderdale, FL at the end of our cruise.

Fishing boat and bridge
Ghost of Cheasepeake Bay Bridge Tunnel
I took this shot from an airplane window, it's a fishing boat going under the Cheasepeake Bay Bridge that spans Maryland and Virginia (it's a loooooong bridge and tunnel!)

Airplane
hellplane
This shot was taken at Castle Island in Boston, MA. Logan Airport is across the water, and you can see many planes landing and taking off from there. Wolf hates this place just for that reason; I think seeing such big things overhead bothers him!

Train
patriotic train
There's something so interesting about watching a train go by; I love to hear the plaintive whistle waaaaay off in the distance. This one, of course, is little and mainly decorative. I took this shot in Meredith, NH.

Horse and rider
horse
A very old style of transportation, that is now mostly done for pleasure! Took this one at Salisbury Beach, MA.

The automobile. It makes life much more convenient, but also pollutes our atmosphere something wicked. When I was searching for photos I'd taken of cars, I noticed these two were the same type of car!
old car
unkempt (Marblehead, MA)
1966's car
well kept! (Union College, Schenectady, NY)

Get that thing out of my face!

Wolf has learned to not like the camera because of the flash; with this lens no flash is necessary, so he stopped squinting and I could get a decent shot!

Mike's Pastry, Boston's North End

Anyone want a cookie? We've got pignolis, Greek wedding & champagne chocolate chip!

Lots of purple

Our work building is beautifully landscaped; this is just one of the patches of colorful flowers that are maintained. I love working in this place!

Really...I am just SUCH a moron sometimes!

I've been posting pictures here, and no-one's been commenting, or so I thought. My feelings were all hurt and I was like...wow, even in the round robin challenge people aren't commenting, I must really suck!

Then I remembered I had put comments on moderation. Doh! is the only word that expresses how I feel right now LOL

As penance, I went back through the entries and replied to each and every one of you. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment.

Here's a fresh picture, just to put a smile on your faces:

This is my dog, Wolf (a shiba inu) sitting in the back yard intently watching something that I certainly couldn't see! A ghost maybe? Who knows! He wouldn't budge, tho.

Round Robin Photo Challenges - Summer Gardens

The challenge this week is Summer Gardens:

I started my garden two years ago, with the help of my friend Pat. The first year it was GREAT; last year it was a sorry mess; this year, I enlarged it to give the tomatos some room :-)

Say hello to the Jolly Elf grape tomatoes (that's their brand name and it's why I chose them LOL). Some of them are just about ready to pick! Maybe tonight after the full moon, they'll be good for a scallop dish I read about in a magazine this past weekend.

Here's a larger view of the garden, it includes the wildly overgrown mint & sage as well as the plum tomatoes.

I plucked the tops of some basil, and as the flowers are beautiful and fragrant, I decided to float them in a bowl of water to scent the house.

Falling down...

Saw this abandoned building in Vermont last weekend. I was fascinated by the size of it and that it was in such a state of disrepair. What was it used for? Why was it let go? What went on inside it?
